Who made the best wound badge?

    Hi guys,
Who in your opinion made the best 1939 silver of gold wound badge? My votes goes to Hauptmuenzenamt, Vienna (30). I feel their product outshines the other makers.

      Hello Jody,
I voted for the 65 Klein and Q. I saw a cased one a few years ago and I was really impressed with it. Even though I don't have one to post for comparison she was a beauty. The one you posted is also a great one. I think I'm really going to like this thread.

I have to side with Gary....I like the "65" K&Q ones the best. Just an opinion with no real specific backing, but hey, that is what makes this hobby fun.

          Take Care,
          Jeremiah

            Hi,

My favourite wound badge is my L/17, closely followed by my nickel-silver and tombak "30"s.

OK...OK..ok, I'll be the first to fess up. I have a couple of unmarked examples. I had and have again, a condor set. I always looked at the wound badge as an easy aquire. This is true with the black hollow backs, however, the solid silver Jody posted are not as common as they used to be. A nice cased gold wound badge is also climbing in price. I am now kicking myself in the ass when I could have, I should have.

Even though I dont own one, yet!, I must say that the ones I have seen are great, especially the gold type.

Hi Guys, well my vote also went with "30" Hauptmuenzenamt, Vienna as I have one of their gold wound badges. It is a beauty apart from the pin has been broken in half I bought it for about £9 in the late 1970's.
                  Cheers, Ade.

First, I want to cast my vote for 65 (K&Q) as also having the best BLACK wound badges as well..hyper detailed, exquisite badges.

As far as the gold or silver, I am partial to the 30 marked ones myself.

Difficult to choose from, several good makers for these awards.

                              For Hollow Wound Badges:

                              I choose '65' and outsider 'L/56'

                              For Solid Wound Badges:

I choose '30' for tombak badges and '65' for zink badges and outsider 'L/53'
