    Wound badge

Can anyone help me with this badge. I know little about these badges and received this one from a friend. Is it authentic or not and how can I tell this? I assume it was once black but that the paint has disappeared.
    Thanks.

    Hi,

The badge appears authentic, but worn, Black grade to me. Hinge/pin/catch and tombak basemetal all look period, as do the remains of the finish. A nice worn example that probably saw lots of combat.

        Hi,

Well, that larger reverse image shows something that's relatively uncommon - significant and obvious double-striking to the reverse! Very obvious from the helmet and swords having 2 "outlines". Very interesting! Don't worry, it does not affect authenticity but it certainly increases the curiosity (and maybe monetary) value!

I'm not sure I understand what you mean, or at least I don't see it. Could you perhaps point it out? Thanks.

Thanks Mike, I see it now. I was looking at the reverse, but missed it. Guess I thought it was something else. It's clearly visible though.
