    Hello, Gentlemen.
    I just received this black wound badge today from my favorite dealer for a giveaway price. It is worn, rusted, corroded and has a bent pin to list a few of it's faults. But it looked like it had been through the war for sure. I have never owned a wound badge with this type of hinge and catch. They are an integral part of the badge rather than having been soldered onto the badge. Is this type pre-1945 design?

      Hi Robert,

      Nice and 100% original badge. The same one is also shown in Tucker's new book on page 227. It's difficult to see but the one in tucker's book is maker marked "65". I think I can see a mm on the yours also on the left lower side of the helmet. Can you make out witch number it is?

          These Klein & Quenzer black wound badges are hyper detailed compared to many other makers of black wound badges. Even on the back, there is crisp, consistant detail. Definitely a favorite of mine.

          I also wasnt aware of this version that has smaller numbers, closer to the rim on the helmet. The ones I have seen had the maker mark up higher, on the same baseline as the swaz.

          Still, an honest badge.

            Here's a little better shot of the very shallow maker mark. I saw the marked '65' in Tucker's new book and noticed that the numbers were higher on the helmet as this piece....? Could there have been two seperate dies? I don't have a clue.
