Most of the time yes, in this occasion no.

I have seen this hardware set up before, RS&S (Richard Simm & Sohne) is the only maker as far i know who uses sheet metal for catch but on the other hand uses ball type hinge.

I'd agree with Chris. The catch on this example does not even match a "93" (RS&S). Could you also post a pic of the obverse please?
