    Need help w/2 WB

Heres a couple black WB's I'm curious about. The first, a mm65, I got several months ago, and the paint is still tacky! Anybody else notice this lately?

      Silver wb?

I think this is a silver WB with all the silver gone. There is a slight red discoloration around the helmut. For some reason, it feels slick. Was lead used in the mfg. of these? Also, it tastes noticably less bad than a zinc IAB that I compared it to. Has anyone seen these? ( or maybe I should consider getting a life, too!)

            FW:

I don't know about the "tacky" paint, but your hollow black wound badge appears to be a good KuQ 65 with the integral hinge and catch setup. Chris Varveris posted a good thread about these integral setups recently.....you might check that out.

If you check the pin number on your silver wound badge, I believe you will find a number 4. It looks correct for a late war Steinhauer & Luck SWB.

Both the WBs are looking good, as for the red discoloration i have encountered this on one IAB and i clean it with alcohol , i don't know the reason how and why this happened though.

...Tastes.....did you say tastes???? . Man, I thought I was a WB fanatic. As much as I cherish my pieces, I don't think I have ever put a lip lock on any of my badges...

It looks identical to me, and it looks exactly like the other 65's with this pin set-up I've seen on the forums. Is the paint sticky on yours? I can't believe this is original paint! I bought it from a European dealer several months ago. I am keeping it for refrerence. PS, is your screen silver with blue lettering, or is my computer on the fritz? Charlie

Your badge looks like it has real paint on it. With high and low spots, chips, etc. So do several of my other BWB's, both the steel and tombak ones. On a couple, the paint is a rich, black finish, almost like bakelite. The badge I posted, is flat, even, with not a trace of chipping, etc. And IMO, the sticky paint can only be a sign of a fake, or a recently repainted piece. I can even scrape a bit of the stuff off, and roll it into a tiny ball with my fingers.
