Wound Badge in Silver with paint job?

Hi Guys, I think that this wound badge is ok, but how can anyone be certain about anything these days... anyhow, what do you think? A ground doug or damaged wound badge that received a new coat of silver to make it 'look nice'? Cheers, Torsten.

        HI,
        IMO...a poorly cast copy.

Yes, it is poor quality...is it not possible that it got damaged or ground dag and then got repainted? I got it in an otherwise completely good lot for one and the same soldier...but I am showing this one, because this is the only one of the lot that I am unsure about...maybe the guy bought it postwar to replace a lost original??? I don't know and cannot find out now...the man is dead...Cheers, Torsten.

I could be wrong, but it looks like spelter, lead or some other crappy metal. I really don't see any zinc corrosion from being in the ground (zinc- that is what this should be made of), just poorly executed details from a weak casting. The helmet looks odd, as does the swastika (thin, and slightly mis-shapen). I do not see a rivet on the rear of the helmet, the hinge looks like an IAB type...I'm still going with . Let's see what some of the others say.

I am not at home now and cannot check it out...I did not pay that much attention to the material, but it definitely is not lead or something else obvious...if it was, then I would not have bothered to photograph and post it here... I thought it was Zinc....but when I get home again I will look at the material more closely... Cheers, Torsten.

                Hello Torsten,
                <o =""></o>
Well I am not sure about your badge,<o =""></o>
The design is an L/22 badge with the right<o =""></o>
Hardware on the back of the badge.<o =""></o>
                <o =""></o>
The paint is not right, maybe you should try<o =""></o>
To clean the badge with alcohol 90-98%.<o =""></o>
If it is new paint it will come off very easy.<o =""></o>
And I am sure it is new pain on this one.<o =""></o>
                <o =""></o>
From the pictures it sure looks like a cast copy,<o =""></o>
But it may be a nice badge under all that paint.

                Cheers,
                Ronny<o =""></o>

I have to agree with Steven on this one, ok Torsten you may have provenance but maybe is not the Vet badge, to me this WB is crap.

I'm looking for one single good point and i can't find it!

The material of construction is not looking to be made during the war, also indeed someone has try to paint-repaint and the job wasn't as excpected, the hardware is looking like... but not indentical even with the right sided catch of Ronny's example, also i dont think that exist WBs with the L22 design without the maker marks on them. This happening as far i know on his hollow issues only.

                        Sorry but thats my opinion.

I'll post an example for my collection for reference.
