Silver Wound Badge L54 Mint Condition

    Hello everyone,

    Mint SWB by L54.

Interesting to note that the plating is "Chrome like".

Would appreciate if anyone who owns a similar piece provide pictures for comparision.

    Thank You

            Hi Ian,
i have a L/54 Silver Wound Badge of Tombak, too. And i have the matching LDO box for this one Is your makers mark stamped ? The maker mark on my WB is the typical raised one. I will post later a few pictures.

This is a typical L54 WB Ian in very nice condition

The appearance of the finish is looking like this because its silver plated above some kind of coat, i do have a couple of WBs looking like chrome rather than silver.

                Hi Ian,

I agree with Chris, your badge looks like a typical L54 (no slash, incuse relief marking) Silver Wound Badge. The finish on my own tombak example is also relatively shiny, so maybe it's a trait of earlier Schauerte & Hohfeld badges.

                Regards
                Mike K

PS: as an aside, I don't think your example could be called "mint" as there is obvious wear to the edges of the swas (tombak showing) and the pin has lost it's finished. Don't get me wrong, it still looks great! There is also a lot of fine surface scratching on the reverse. Has it been cleaned?
                Regards
                Mike

                          Hi Alex,

Your badge looks like a L52.
The hinge and catch looks similar to mine, nice piece and box
