    Nice surprise, L/52 BWB

Always nice to find a marking on a badge you bought unmarked. This case a L/52 - Fritz Zimmermann. Had the exact same thing happen with my "20" marked badge.
It makes you wonder, are these Zimmermann bwb really as rare as we think or do people just not notice the mm?

Also notice the stamping fail around the helmet on the reverse. Is this something that is common on the Zimmermann?

    Feel free to post yours,

    Mats

    Hi Mats,

Nice badge with great detail on the front. But it is actually a C.F. Zimmerman of Pforzheim. Fritz Zimmerman was L/24 and based in Stuttgart.

    Best regards,
    Tom

          Hi Mats,

Great catch and wonderful little surprise you got there. I am still waiting for the day I pick up an "unmarked WB" and find a mark hiding somewhere. Sometimes my eyes hurt for looking so hard at every nook and cranny of the reverse of my unmarked badges. Nice score!

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

Nice find, now I need to go through all of my unmarked BWBs just to see if I missed one of these.

Mats, those are really rare. great find!

I have only ever found one (also with some rust on it) which I sold because of the condition.

IMO there are a couple makers, who only made very limited production runs of the makersmarked variants, and alot bigger runs of the unmarked variants. Just look at Assmann for example (still looking for one of those)

                          Thank you Chris, I agree!

Here are some old photo's of my mm "20" for comparison,
Cannot find photo's of the front unfortunately,

                              Hey Mats,

                              Nice badge!
It go's well with your 20 marked one. ☺

I have a black badge marked L/52 on the side of the pin.
