Hello, I’ve had this for some time and it came in small candy box with a few other items from the daughter of the late Vet. I’m pretty sure this one is silver this time. Best, Bill

Don´t throw away your fake WB´s! Get in touch with me.
I collect them for reference purposes for the benefit of the hobby (for the right "fake" price of course).

Hi Bill,
Thank you for showing us some more Vet treasure,I love to see these American "bringback" groupings,I've never found one similar here in the UK in 30yrs of collecting, our troops just weren't allowed to do it.
The closest i came to a UK Vet haul was back in the early 90's,i'd probably been collecting a couple of yrs tops.My mother was a professional hairdresser and one of her older clients Husband served as a Captain in the Royal Artillery, turns out he commanded the Anti aircraft unit that was close to Bergen Belsen KZ and was one of the 1st British Army officers into the camp. Anyway during one of the conversations my mother had with them his war service & my name must of come up and my interest in WW2 so he asked to meet me.
At our meeting he pulled out the mintest Police officers sword i've ever seen,a Kriegsmarine officers sword from the Island of Sylt were he took the surrender(that was hanging at the bottom of the stairs),NSKK dagger,Luft Dagger KM Dagger and mint combat bayonet. The stand out in the insignia was a LAH dogtag,ww1 EK2,war merit crosses etc and some police cloth and loads of documents &letters and from former inmates at BB KZ who kept in touch with him.
We built up quite a friendship,i'd take items i'd bought round to the house when i was invited for numerous meals and he said that he wanted me to have all these items as their only Son was not interested in them in the slightest.
Life moved on a few Yrs ,my mother had died and i had a family of my own,I thought i must contact Gilbert & Joan to see how they are. I phoned up and Joan answered,we talked at some length and then i said hows Gilbert?,oh he died a couple of yrs ago..Well I was totally shocked (I thought why didn't you contact me to let me know??,I'd have liked to have gone to his Funeral at the very least...weird)any way she then invited me round to the house so i took my toddler Daughter with me to meet her,so we sit having a cup of tea and she says to me "Robert are you still collecting the German stuff?",yes i replied thinking she was going to say i have that box for you if you want to take it,instead she said "well i gave it all to the 8yr old Grandson" so there endeth the story,so close yet so far...So that is the closest i ever came to getting a Vets grouping of souvenirs
Cheers
Bob

Hi Tom and Bill, thanks for the compliments. Bob, track down the 8 yo, you never know. Here is my final WB. I got this out of my best ever woodwork find about 12 years ago. All I have left is the SWB and German cross on black. One can wait years for a grouping like this. It was a bit hard to breathe while buying this grouping. Best, Bill
