1939 Gold or Black Wound Badge for review

    Hi Guys,

I bought this Wound Badge in an auction lot some years ago. It is a bit beat up and possibly ground dug I guess. But look at the dots - is this the 'chaos' type? Is this type rare? It's a hollow-back and brass with no trace of any black paint remaining, even on the reverse. I know Gold hollow-back Wound Badges are pretty controversial but perhaps this is one. I would welcome opinions.

Thanks for looking and for all comments received.

    All the best,

    Guy

    Hi Guy,

it´s an original Chaotic Dot Pattern and IMO a black grade that lost all of its finish.

It is not to be confused with the Chaos Dot design which is a fake and has a completely different obverse design than yours. Posted one of mine as a reference to show the difference since i know it can be confusing for some.

Don´t throw away your fake WB´s! Get in touch with me.
I collect them for reference purposes for the benefit of the hobby (for the right "fake" price of course).

      Hi Guy,

I can only agree with Hans, a fine original but has lost much of its original black finish.

Hans, nice followup on the Chaotic fake to be on the lookout for.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little

Many thanks, Hans and Thomas, glad to hear it's good and very interesting to compare the two. Thanks for posting the 'chaotic dot' fake picture - that is one to be aware of.

        Thank you again,

        All the best, Guy
