Black & Gold? Wound Badges for Review

I picked these up today along with a War Merit Cross w/swords, and a driving proficiency badge.
The black one looks ok to me, but can you tell the maker?
The “gold” one is a puzzle. It’s a hollow back, non-magnetic and it looks like the catch has been replaced. Any ideas?

The "Gold" one is actually a black one with the paint worn off. I have one just like it that I picked up from a vet.

Ok, thanks. That makes sense. It must be made out of brass. Any way to tell the maker on either one?

Evaluate the item, not the story and not the seller's reputation!

If you PM/contact me without the courtesy of using your first name, please don't be offended if I politely ignore you!

Wow! You must have really good eyes! Even with a flashlight and magnifying glass I could barely make out the ES. Thank you for your help.
