    Gold Wound Badge "100"-for review

I would like to get your opinion about the originality of this Wound Badge in Gold. It is made of Zink, marked "100", pin is magnetic.
Thank you in advance for your comments.

    Hi,

The originality of the badge is imo not in question.

The originality of the gold finish imo is a massive question. I'm not liking it and think it is more likely to be an upgraded Silver.

      Mike,
Thank you very much for your expertise. Maybe it will be possible to remove the gold color with acetone.
      Best regards,
      Klaus

        Hi Klaus,

If you have it in hand then just try an unobtrusive test spot first using a Q-tip. A genuine finish should not come off in this case.

          Hello Mike,

I was able to remove the gold paint with acetone. It was indeed a badge in silver. I think, it looks much better now, even if there are some scratches on the reverse. Probably somebody polished the surface before applying the paint. Here I attach the images of the "new look".
Thank you very much for good advice !!!

          Best regards,
          Klaus

              Klaus,
One of the better jobs I've seen when an attempt is made to restore a badge/medal.
              Well done.

                Chet and Alejandro,

Thank you for complementing my "old-new" badge. I was lucky that acetone removed the post-war paint so easily.

                Best regards,
                Klaus

                  Hi Klaus,

Much better this way! Glad you were able to remove the fake gold finish, and its really nice there is still alot of original silver finish left. In alot of cases, these badges are refinished because there is no finish left but in your case its great to see alot of silver left.

If it doesn't have a hinge and catch, I'm not interested......well, maybe a little
