Unmarked Steel Black Wound Badge

Hi Guys,

When I was on the look for some new Wound badges I came across this type of wound badge several times. I decided to buy one and today it arrived.
Is this a known type of setup on the BWB?
Can we attribute this BWB to a maker?

I have some doubts about this one but first I would like to hear some opinions.

i am no help in this case i am afraid. The badge looks interesting. Hopefully Ronny might bring some light in who the maker might be.

Hi Marco,

Nice looking example, do you have some more pics of the hinge and catch so we can see their exact shape and configuration? Did you look on the inside of the pin for possible marking?

Hi Marco

It's not ringing any bell yet, and some more pictures as Thomas mentioned might help.

It looks a bit odd but it might only be the scans, there are some die flaws that might help out.

I will look throu my badges and files and se what I can find out, hopefully today or when I get back home next week

Here are some pictures of my badge. It is a bit rustier than yours.
I have seen some of this type of badge, so I would say it is a known setup type.
Can’t help you with the manufacture. Do you think it is a fake?

Hi Rasmus,

Thank you for posting your example. Your example looks like a well worn Wound badge.
I was not sure about the badge because of the 'fresh' rust and some lack of details.
But this could be possible due a bad die.
The bad rim of the helmet is not what I've seen before on period badges.
