Were 'earlies' sweat-soldered or is this a repair / replacement job?

One sees a lot of replaced pins on these '33 RPT badges, but this is OK IMHO.

            Hi David,

I'm not sure what Pete means by "Not a typical German pin," especially from the angle at which the reverse of this badge was photographed. Perhaps a photo from the side might clarify this question?

So, for the moment, at least, I wouldn't say that this 1933 RPT Badge is "ok with a rubbish pin;" I'd say that the badge is OK and we'll wait to see what can be learned from a side-view photo.

            Cheers,

            Br. James

cheers br. james! I wonder if in '33 a variety of pins were used if a maker came up short and rzm snoops weren't around - and who's gonna notice once the pin's pinned? and when if ever were MMs put on?

also, lots of these seem to have very little if any gilt (paint?) left. anyhow a nice-looker design wise. happy days.
