DRL Heavy Athletics Badge Opinions

Good evening,

This badge has been offered to me as part of a group trade and as I don't know anything about them I'd like to get your opinions. I checked it against a few I found here and via other sources on the web and it looks like a match to accepted originals.

What do you guys think - real or repro?

Thanks for the excellent pics Ron. I am going to take some more pics in different lighting to see if I can take some of the blur off of mine. I think it's obvious that the badge I've shown has been cleaned at some time, hence it's reflecting the light and obscuring some of the detail.

Even though your catch has been repaired the hardware looks identical.

I am undecided about this badge because it’s a very strange colour and the mm stamp appears too big.

Have you tested it with a magnet to see if it’s made if iron?

Good point Stan on checking it and I just did and it is magnetic. I thought the maker's mark looked a little bigger too and thought maybe it was mushed brass, but it is magnetic so maybe just a harder strike??

Regarding the color, I think this badge was cleaned at some point as it does not have the patina that Ron's does.

Any other opinions are appreciated.

If Bob’s badge is made of iron and has the correct hardware then I would say that it is almost certainly original.
