    DJ Leistungsabzeichen in Silver-Opinions?

I was wondering what the general concensus is on this badge. It has a RZM hallmark and after it M1/35. Then there is the number 238661.
    Any help appreciated!

I'll wait for the HJ boys to weigh in, but the RZM logo and M1/35 license number should be raised and not stamped. I would pass.

At first glance the badge looks ok, good detail nicely aged. Also the back looks good.

Then i looked at the RZM mark as pointed out by sjl and saw what he meant and came to the same conclusion.......not for my collection.

I've seen beautiful copies of this badge for sale on a few repro sites.

            Thanks for the replys all!
I got a good deal for it anyway, so I will display it as if it were original within my collection. It definately looks and feels real, but I guess I am mistaken.
            Thanks again!

the stamping of the rzm and m1/35 would concern me its normally stamped only on the award number with the rzm and mm raised, but have seen lots of these badges by this maker with the mm and rzm stamped so the next question is did this maker actually make these badges and if so was stamping the mm and rzm common pratice for this maker ??

                  m1/35

the detail to these badges dj and hj ,i would say in most cases is spot on,if these were fakes, why would the faker make such a simple mistake by having the rzm m1/35 stamped and not raised, the hj and dj badges that have been faked, do have the raised rzm,but the detail is not a good, also most m1/35seem to be in the 200000-300000 range, and i think above this range you have the maker m1/101 so my next question is does anyone have a badge by anouther maker in this range,we must also take into account that there were no restrictions in place to say that the rzm had to be raised,if you take a look at the hj canteens the rzm and makers code is stamped,i have posted a pic of my hj m1/35,any comments, opinions, welcome.

Stop, this is something that you just can not do, cross compare markings on badges to markings on other items like canteens and belt buckles etc.. It wont work, and you will run into problems. When comparing markings, always stick to the same item, preferably the EXACT same item, i mean these specific badges, not all small HJ badges, just these. The subject is complicated enough without dragging other items into it, which you cant, they were made on different set ups, with different materials, and most likely by different makers too. (Even though the same RZM code will be found on say a badge and a canteen, that does not mean that that maker actually made both items.)

I know HJ Proficiency badges marked M1/34 have a raised RZM code, but after a search of the forum I have found at least one other example of an HJ Proficiency badge marked M1/35 with the RZM code stamped into the badge and that example was deemed original.

Is it possible we are confusing the subtleties of one maker for another?

I was not able to find any DJ Proficiency Badge marked M1/35 to compare to the one at the beginning of this thread.

Are there little swirls on the bottom of the serial #'s from the engraving tool? John
