    Help with Olympic & Hunting Enameled Badges

    Hello to all,
    I would appreciate any and all assistance with these two enameled badges. These pieces look well-made, but I really don't know if they are original. Please comment if you have any knowledge on these types of badges.

        On this Olympic Badge, the maker name and city are in relief. The serial number is incuse.

          I have no experience with these badges, but for what it's worth I read on another forum that the hunting badge is a fantasy & never existed in the Reich period (pm me if you want further details).

          The Olympic pin........ I don't know, but similar ones are on sale from a company well known for selling fakes.

          Hopefully someone who knows more will chip in.

              I've got one of the olympic badges myself and have always wondered about it. I cannot find any reference that shows/describes these badges or any photos that show these badges in wear. I would be curious to find out for which purpose they may have been produced. All are numbered indicating a production run that was intended to be distributed to a limited number of individuals. The workmanship is very nice and would be comparable to a period produced badges. I know they go back at least to the 1970's as that is when I acquired mine and I like to think the fakers were not very adept at producing enameled badges of this quality back then for the price these were bringing back then (I think it was something on the order of $20-$30). I've never been able to substantiate them as real or fake.

                    What size is the hunting pin? It looks small alongside the Olympic pin, or is that a big pin?

                      Don, the Olympic pin is a pretty large disc. I'm at work right now so I can't measure it but imagine it is at least 3 inches in diameter.

                        The Hunting Badge is 39.5mm in diameter. The Olympic Badge is 45mm.

                          Here's a picture of the front and the back of my olympic pin. I've also included another olympic pin (it says "fight referee" along the bottom). I'm pretty sure that one is a bogus pin. I added it here to show that it has the exact same maker mark on the reverse as the Hunting Assoc. badge. It is slightly larger than the Olympic badge pictured on the left.
