There are a lot of threads saying these are very suspect. Seems they came in many colors green blue yellow. I was told by the seller it was original. And a few dealers have them for sale that is what threw me.

Otto Hoffmann never made HJ badges. Ever. All fakes. They have been around for decades in all colors of the rainbow. Otto Hoffmann was a manufacturer of cloth for HJ/BDM arm-triangles - never had a contract for metal badges.

Here is a link to a thread that explains why these are fake .

I bought this pin and a Westmark pin, the seller was good enough to cancel the order on the HJ fake.

This will open up a can of worms for sure. What has given these Hoffmann pins a very bad reputation are the multi coloured fakes bearing the Hoffmann mark.

No other colour other than red was ever used for these badges

Most people automatically call fake whenever they see one of these badges.

                  Otto Hoffmann.
Fact is …………………… this company did exist, they also made BDM and HJ items, as well as SA brown-shirts.
Fact also, the Richter Catalogue, states that makers who made cloth items back in the early days, also made everything else from Enamelled badges to flags, hats, posters, Kitsch... etc etc

Did Otto Hoffmann ever had an RZM M1- licence?

He was not listed as having an M1 permission, but neither had he an A4 permission. In 1934 he eventually lost his RZM permit.

As for the badge? Never say never - not enough real evidence has ever been produced to say either way - except for those stupid multi coloured ones that has clouded this maker

                  I'm on the fence

Did you not read the in depth research done by Jo Rivet.
He has examined many many enamled badges and still does.
Not only his flawless micro work but factual studying of paper work issuing and removing of RZM licence .
Big help to be fluent in German I guess.
All Otto Hoffman badges are copies .Some good but nether the less junk.
big dealers still sell the stuff as they hope some inexperienced sole buys it.
often with a good old story behind it.
Need to get off the fence mate.Much better with your feet on the ground.
                    Regards Pete
