    NSDAP party pins - opinions needed

    Hi,

    I'd appreciate some opinions on these two party pins:

    The first I bought a month ago from a polish collector. I think it's real, but I'd like some other views:

    <img src="http://rozum-a-chtic.wz.cz/pin1_2-resize.jpg" />

    And here's another, but yet in someone else's possession - I'm interested in buying it, but not sure of it's authenticity(sorry for bad pics, I don't have better):

    Thanks for your help!

    #1 At first glance I thought good, but now I have a few nagging doubts - the red enamel is sloppy around the letters (L & D), and the swastika doesn't touch the rim at the bottom. The "A" in "DAP" is extra thick. Plus the "rust" on the back is odd, since the base metal was almost always copper or zinc, which don't oxidize brown - only green or gray.

    #2 Bad (excellent front - but wrong markings on reverse and thin pinlate).

      I agree... #2 is most definately fake. #1 is close but the lettering is very sloppy on the "A" in D.A.P. and it appears that some enamelling is covering the base of the L.

        i agree that number 2 is bad though the enameling on the front is very convincing from the photos....
        number 1 though i hear the concerns i believe is fine...see if the base metal is steel(take a magnet to it) we do know that at least 1 maker used steel as a base metal...i believe it is the 100 marked pins.
        also the fact that the reverse features the sunken in back to accomadate the pin holder imo is a good sign...i have never (i guess i should say rarely...since i believe some 4 marked fakes have this feature) seen a fake have this feature....some of my most desireable pins have this feature as well...all in all i like number 1.

          I agree with Mike on this one #1 looks good to me also. Not all these badges are 100% perfect you will find little oddity's from time to time such as the red enamel covering part of a letter or period and specially the swastika legs all touching the inner circle but not necessarily every leg will have a perfect fit.
          As to the rust spots I would not be surprised to find this badge has a magnetic core like this ground dug relic I will post below.

            Thanks for your judgements!
            To answer your question: yes, the base metal is magnetic.

            And do you know anywhere on the net a website about nsdap party badges and their specifications?

            Thanks.
