    Seig Heil pin

Looking for comments on this pin. I purchased this from the family of a WWII U.S. Army veteran along with several original German items. I've never seen this type of pin before and looking to see if someone can tell me a little bit about it. How it would have been distributed? Who would have worn it? etc...

    Thanks.

Salzmann, thanks for taking the time to respond. Are you familiar with these pins? What can you tell me about them?

That certainly is an original badge. In Jo's book (pg.#237) there is a short piece on these and other supporters badges.

Its a little supporters badge, different than the normal NSDAP party pin, which is what you would've received when joining the party.

This is different, its meant to emulate the normal badge, but is not official as issued by the party, almost like a 'knock-off'.

There were various versions, Sieg Heil (hail victory), Heil Hitler, (hail Hitler), and others like Deutschland Erwache (Germany Awaken!) etc. These other slogan badges followed the basic look and format of the more official party badge in terms of the look and construction, but may vary in terms of the slogan that appears on the front.

These were likely sold in little specialty shops that sold other NSDAP items, (posters, pennants, etc). These little slogan badges are around, and there are guys (like myself) who focus on the variations and oddball versions. Some are scarcer than others, so even when you find a slogan badge, there are versions that are more or less scarce than its peers. Hope that helps.

          Its a nice one, enjoy!

Tex, thanks for the info as that is what I was interested in.... learning. Since party badges aren't my expertise I was interested in learning and especially this on which is one I've never run across before. Thanks for taking the time to explain.
