hello I think I posted it in the wrong place.
Can you take a look see at this for me please.
I am not sold with the rear as these attachments are still being used today and the RZM looks very sloppey. But there is a makers name to the pin plate ??
    So your views please

No good, sorry, M1/129 is always fake. It is the most common faker code and was never used on a real badge. The number was assigned to a maker but was never used in the period. Any time you see 129 walk away no matter how good it may look. Sorry for the bad news.

I will say that this one is a better fake than most 129s. The attachment is very convincing but the party badge golden rule number one is that m1/129 is ALWAYS fake.

Good to hear of the 129 rule as well.

What do you think? Did someone glue a good pin attachment on this bad badge? Or did this faker just take it farther than normal?

Fake pin with a fake pinplate. Faker never bothered to make sure the name on the pinplate matched the RZM license number.

I noticed that too. And never for a minute was I fooled by this badge. Just curious if someone might have taken a good pin and glued it to a bad badge. As for the mis match it is not unheard of. There is a good party badge listed on estand now by reputable member that has one number on badge itself and different maker name on pin attachment (just like this fake). It is well documented that badges were worked on by different companies or subcontractors during the TR period. One company making the badge, one making the attachment and pin and still a third putting the pieces together. The party badge book made note that it was common for companies to do in phases like this. Not many of them had all the machinery and tooling to make planchet, pin and attachment, do enamel work and to solder the attachments onto badge then do the fine cleaning at the end. Most of them ordered the pieces and assembled them. That's why we see the same pebbling background on badges from several different makers. They all bought planchets from same maker and then did finish work to fill orders.

The OP's badge is a definite fake, but I haven't ever seen a 129 with this convincing a pin on it before. Most have the easily spotted coffin pin. Someone went an extra step to try and pass this one off. I know guys who still expect to find a good 129 one day just because the number was assigned but I think it would have come up by now if it was possible. It'd be kind of like the copper 1943 penny. What was thought to be a fantasy for years then one day was proven real and sold for a fortune.....But I doubt it.

The letter M and the number 1 are also dead give aways too !! You very often see this badge offered for sale on this side of the pond - - - it makes me think that they were originally manufactured here.

PS. If memory serves me well Schulze RZM licence number was pre-fixed M9/.... (a manufacturer of day badges etc)

See the last badge in this listing. A good party badge with this EXACT same pin attachment and pin. I think someone glued this attachment onto this bad m1/129 badge.

Your explanation that this was an M9/ maker makes sense as he is not on the m1 list at all. The patina looks even on this good badge, In am thinking that the maker used the attachment that he could get at the time to fill the order and that's why it has this Schulze attachment.

                      yes

it was the plate that threw me .
It looks so dam good .Just that shoddy RZM made we think twice.
Just goes to show you can never be to careful .
                      Regards Pete

The fake "P. Schultze" pin plate has been around since at least 1995, attached to a variety of fake party pins. I have one in my (out of print) book on RZM marks.

Now another twist, on the badge I linked to that's for sale. It is an M1/128 and looks to be a good badge to me. BUT....then I go and look up the m9 maker number for P schulze and low and behold, what is the number for that company??? 128. Now I am wondering about the "good" badge. That is one helluva coincidence....

Again, that is the badge in my book - M1/128 with a fake "P. Schultze" pin plate, and I note that M1/128 is not their number, but M9/128 is, but only used for tinnies. Fakers keep getting it wrong.

So you say this whole badge is a fake then? I am not an expert, but I know a fair amount about party badges. The obverse of this badge looks like any standardized party badge. The lettering, the pebbled background of the red enamel. It has been a long time since I was fooled by a party badge but honestly, if this badge had not had that P Schulze attachment on it, it would have fooled me I'm ashamed to admit. I thank you for the input. If I have misunderstood you, please let me know. I do not have your book I'm afraid.
