    Award or tinny

Had this for years. Never sure it is award or just a day badge. Opinion is welcome. Thanks.

      Hi scottishsoldier,

it is not an award, it s a day badge/festival badge (Festabzeichen/Tagungsabzeichen):

I fully agree with Uwe. This badge was created in 1933 as part of the 10th Anniversary Celebration of the Putsch and so it is a tinnie...though quite an important tinnie! The copy of the advertisement from the November 8, 1933 edition of the "Völkischer Beobachter" which Uwe linked to his note tells the whole story of the inception of this badge and the reason for it's creation.

The Blood Order -- the real award for this occasion in NS history -- came into being in 1934, and that high award immortalized the phrase from the tinnie the previous year: "Und ihr habt doch gesiegt" -- And Yet You have Conquered!

Although the badge may have started off as a tinny it was still proudly worn on party uniforms afterwards.

I agree, Stan; the SA-Sturmführer in that photo also wears the 1933 RPT Badge and that may mean that the photo may have been taken in late 1933...?

              Cheers,
