Congratulations, Patrick! This is indeed a rare badge...can you or anyone here say anything further about this badge -- was it intended to have the status of one of the Gau Ehrenzeichen awards or was it an event badge connected to festivities in that Gau, perhaps at it's tenth anniversary, like some of the other Gau Honor Badges?

            Again, congrats!!

That's great, Ron -- I knew you'd have the answer! So these are tokens of donations made to the Freiheitsbund organization in various Gaue, akin to what a contributor would receive for a donation to the WHW. I was unfamiliar with this organization till now! Here's a description of the Freiheitsbund that I found on Wikipedia:

"Freiheitsbund, Christian-Socialist defence organisation, founded in 1927 in Vienna to prevent assemblies and industrial terrorism by the Social Democrats; the Freiheitsbund existed formally only until 1936, but in reality until 1938. The Freiheitsbund, as a troop of blue-collar workers without officers dedicated to upholding democracy, was always treated with hostility by the Heimwehr (para-military force). A prominent political exponent was L. Kunschak, its leader J. Dengler. After the revolts in February 1934 and the National Socialist putsch in 1934, former members of the Schutzbund and National Socialists joined the Freiheitsbund in large numbers, bringing membership from 2,100 (1934) to 30,350 (1935) and considerably changing the structure of the Freiheitsbund changed considerably as well. During the era of the corporate state, the Freiheitsbund worked closely with the Unified Trade Union and had significant influence on the distribution of jobs (Staatssekretäre, ministers without portfolio, after February 15, 1938)."

                      Hi !
André Hüsken made a mistake. The Opferrings were not Freiheitsbund, but for financial supporters or members of the Party, mostly which couldn't do any work in the Party because they were to busy.
I have all shown coloured in the Hüsken catalogue and also several member books and cards.
                      Regards

As you noted, my information was coming from Husken.
