Thanks, Pete. Were the pins always mounted horizontally and without a round plate on these? I still like the piece, even with a repaired/replaced pin.

Well Tom, mine has.
You can see, on your badge, the remains if the horizontal solder line just to the right of the pin plate. The metal/finish is also discolored due to heat and the badge has been partially polished to remove this on the front.
