Hard to tell when the entire award is essentially blanked out...

I have seen uncensored photos and IMO it is a nice original.

I have to agree with Wolfe8918: "Hard to tell when the entire award is essentially blanked out...," and no, I haven't seen this award without the blanked-out covering. And I don't believe I've ever seen an award box or case for this badge, so I can hardly be objective in this case! But if it is good, then the price seems quite low!

        Cheers,

        Br. James

one has to register at Weitze`s site to see uncensored pics.

I asked, because I became the same badge recently, also with this case...

Mine is also stamped "1923" at the bottom of the case

I agree with Stan - - a splendid example of a genuine Gau Honour badge. To be honest I think priced a little on the high side but an uncommon badge for sure.

In my opinion an original, though one expert has observed that the double bent pin should never allow any light to shine through.

Paint instead of enamel - and a big chip missing - should reduce the value. The price does reflect Weitze's opinion that the box is an original to the badge. I don't think that has been proven or accepted in the collector community.

I have the exact same set, and it came from a private source, was never in collectors hand...

There is no light showing through the double pin in the photos I have seen - and the profile is slightly flattened on the top.

The pin is just how it should be IMO.

Did you login to look at Weitze’s pictures ? The 4th (on my screen 1st in the 3rd row).

Anyway, for me that’s not a determining detail.

Anyone has concerns about the box or is this an accepted type as I've not seen any period photos.

                        Hi Mil,

I'm not sure what you're referring to here --

"Anyone has concerns about the box..."

Can you say anything further? Many thanks, my friend,

                        Br. James

                          Hi James,

Sorry for not being clear. What I was trying to say is whether the box pictured with the 1923 badge in Weitze's site is "accepted" as the "actual" box meant for the badge? m-e-h-t also mentioned that such a box recentl surfaced.

                          Mil

Thanks, Mil -- I've never seen an acknowledged original of the box or award case this type of decoration came in, so I wouldn't know one if I saw one!

                            Cheers,

                            Br. James
