    Mutterkreuz in Bronze, 1st class

    Hi,
what do you think of this cross? I donť have any clue if it's a fake or a real cross. I'd be glad for any opinion given. And sorry for the photos, their not from me...

    Sepp,
The cross you show here looks good but what you have is a 2nd pattern 3rd class Bronze Mutterkreuz. The frist class is Gold and the Second class is Silver. also the 1st pattern cross's had the inscription "Das Kind adelt die Mutter" on the reverse.

Isn't the center disk with the swastika and motto on at a 90 degree angle? I'm not near my reference books, but I thought "Mutter" should be at the bottom. There was a common fake made as one piece with the motto on at an angle.

For such a common badge, you can find much better looking examples for not much money.

Let's not be too hasty - does the centre disk look like it might have come off at some point or is it part of the striking?

I didn't say it was positively a fake above because most of the fakes I've seen have blunted ends to the rays between the cross arms and thick white enamel edges. Yours doesn't have these, so have a look and see if the disk might have ben reattached.

It looks like it has been dropped or bent at one time, so there may be some faint hope.

the only thing that would change my mind about that MC is the fact the the swas is at the correct angle, A better Pic would be a great help you may be correct. Were is RAN when we need him, he is more of a MC Person than me.

                  RAN!!!! Where art thou!!
