DJ Pin Help Please

I've had this DJ pin for many years (pre internet), and am now questioning it's authenticity -- mostly due to the markings on the back. The RZM is not within a second circle, and the "72" isn't preceeded my "M1/".

imo your fine.
i have seen and own several pins with just the maker code and not the m number.
as well as the rzm mark is nothing to be concerned with.
enamel looks fine...perhaps the pin was replaced at some time

RZM marks do not have to have a second circle to be real. This is a mistake Robin Lumsden made in his book "Detecting the Fakes".

If you see a real badge without a M1 prefix but an RZM contract number - like yours - it means it dates from early 1935 before the M-prefixes were finalized, but after RZM license numbers were awarded.

Your badge is real and dates from this period.

Thanks gents. Yes, my copy of Lumsden's reference had me a bit concerned. And after hours of sifting through dozens of old forum threads I've come to the same conclusion about the lack of an "M1/" being ok. Always good to have other opinions though.

I agree with your sentiments. Lumsden got me worried as well, but I have had so many guaranteed original pins and badges without the second circle that I would also doubt his statement is true. This appears to be mostly true for the simpler and more mass production membership pins and badges, like the DAF, etc. Cheers, Torsten.
