I'd like to see a pic of the NSFK Pilot's Badge, if you have one handy.

            Stijn,
Don't bother yourself on my badge as it was from a veteran source just as the Luft one was.

              Large NSFK badge

              Hi Ron,

It isn't because a badge is with or from a veteran that it is automaticly original. This large NSFK glider badge is a original one. Your Glider pilots badge is another story. (for those who did not follow the thread: http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...ad.php?t=93788 )

              Happy collecting,

show us an original badge and we will appreciate it. Show us a POS and we will tell you that its a POS.

Nice original and rare large NSFK glider by the way.

This one also came from the daughter of a vet.

                    Happy collecting,
With all due repect to all of those who have ventured their opinions, having been involved with these things for 48 years, the skepticism of collectors younger than myself and Ron at times stands in the way of learning the truth. I, as Ron, did many hotel buys in the 1980's. I never once bought a reproduction piece from a legitimate veteran. At times, local charlatans would walk in an older gentleman as a front for a bad piece. With very little conversation, these fellows were easily identified. Did veterans add to their souvenirs at gun shows and militaria shows? I am sure a few did. However, in most cases, I do not think this is or was a common practice. One must remember that these things were souvenirs and trinkets and not looked upon as an investment by the vets. I have been buying from vets since the late 1950's. I must say that the material I bought over the years was original period and more trust worthy than certain items I have seen on the web sites of some of the glamour dealers. Along with informed knowledge, newer collectors have also learned unreliable knowledge and take it to be gospel. At times, things can be learned from old timers such as Ron and myself.

                        Large NSFK glider badge

                        Hello,

One can be young and one can be old => we all still can learn and it is a process that never stops. Skeptisiscm is nothing wrong as long as it does not become ignorance. Your years of collecting does indeed create a certain level of knowledge (it would be very sad if it doesn't) but it does nothing and really does not add anythingw hen you start to believe that due to your years of collecting that you have become a knowing all God of militaria collecting. Never say never is something that you do learn over the years but in the end original will remain original and fake a fake. That is my last comment about learning etc ... in this thread as it does not add any value towards this thread.

As said before it is a nice original badge and the source or the story does not matter. A badge must stand out on his own.

                        Cordial greetings
