    Gold Party Badge, Numbers!

    Hello Chaps!

Can I pick your knowledge of Gold Party Badges!
Would I be right in saying that any GPBs with engraved membership numbers would be post war applied? Should all pre 1945 badges be impressed numbers?

    Thanks for any help,

    Rosepipe20.

No. Many original GPBs were period rotograved or even hand engraved. There is a theory that they are replacement badges and the impressed numbers are original issue, but many originals were engraved.

Fakes are both engraved and stamped. The stamped ones never get the font or strike quite right.

Here is an example of a roto engraved original. However, the pin attachment is customized.

Very interesting, Andreas! Looks like someone went to the trouble of having his large GPB converted into a stickpin! You don't see one of those every day!!

        Cheers, my friend,

        Br. James
