    1933 Munchen Gau Badge

I believe this an original 1933 Munchen Gau Badge by Deschler & Soh. In excellent condition, but in needs of very good clean.

Please, could people confirm its ok, before it goes on E-Stand.

    Cheers

      Hi,
I will start the ball rolling, Could be wrong but I thought the pin was normally soldered on these badges

          Hello,
I also have seen the pin soldered on these usually and also the pin plate looks like the coffin type pin plate that is usually seen on fake items, although someone did tell me that sometimes you will see a pin plate like this used as a replacement, whether that is true or not I cannot say for sure. The obverse doesn't look bad to me but I would hope members who specialize in badges comment on this item.

            Hi,

a 1933 Gau München badge do not exist.

There was no Gau München in 1933, only the Gau München-Oberbayern.

The event was not a Gau event, it was a Reichs event, performed in München (Gedenkfeier des 9. November 1923 in München).

And it is definitely a festival badge (Festabzeichen).

              Hello Uwe,
You are right, we should be using the term festival badge but not a gau badge. I think it's just that we are all so use to it being called a gau badge, but yes we should get the term gau badge for this piece out of our heads

Sorry - wouldn't touch it. I don't like the pinplate and the whole thing looks artificially distressed.

I believe that is a copy - - - see for example the offering on The Regalia Specialist site.

The example shown on Emedals is also a copy in my opinion.

Agreed. Bad pinplate and the leaves have odd raised outlines like the one above.

I also think that this is a badge with issues.
