    Coburg Badge

    Hello there !

I have just bought this Coburg badge from someone that mentioned he had it from an older fellow in Germany. He has mentioned he is 100 sure this is the real deal and not a fake.

I have searched the internet and found a lot of pictures of real badges and fakes, but i cannot find any that has a silver color, mostly were bronze.

Can you please help me and tell me if there is any chance this is real ?

Wow, the quality of that one is absolutely terrible! I don't collect badges, but that is obvious to me.

              Hi Mikep32,

Welcome among us -- it's good to have you here!

It is also unfortunate that your very first post should bring such an overwhelmingly negative response, but that is why you joined WAF, isn't it? You've come here to ask serious questions and to receive the honest responses of people with years of experience and study of the subjects discussed...and sadly, sometimes the responses are that a supposed artifact is a reproduction or even a piece crafted to misrepresent and to deceive the collecting public. This is such a piece, and I hope it is possible for you to retrieve your investment from the source.

              And again, welcome!

Hey guys ! I really appreciate your quick and honest responses. Honestly, it's a positive feedback for me for at least I know a thing straight. Thing is, I never knew about this badge (the story behind the real ones) and I went throughout the mountains in my country and some older guy with an antique store saw me with a flecktarn jacket and called me inside to show me something (this and more badges, some I knew, some I did not). Sent a picture to a friend with this and he googled it up really quick and he sent me the results. Was really curious to find if it's a real or not.
I really appreciate all your responses ! Cheers !

                        Hi,

                        4 Coburg Badge variants.
The "red" variant is - imho - a modern fantasy fake (i'm sure we can identify the modern font used for the numbers and letters).

As always, very helpful and informative stuff from you. Thank you. When you say "Red" variant, which one do you mean?
