Looks like silver plated brass without any corrosion.

the ring has been around a lot lately.. Seems like a unit ring,,the detail on it looks good. But you really got to give it a good inspection,,is it rough because it is supposed to be a dug piece? or are those casting 'dots' or pearls as some like to call them on the bell.. Would be cool if it was a authentic ring,,you just got to really check it good.

Seems to me more a wedding bell and good luck horseshoe ring.

            Ring

Reverse shows the dots as well is this casting or the silver plating it looks like
brass underneath, would this survive like this buried for 75 years, would
be interesting if any one can identify the unit on the dog tag, any more
comments on the originality of this ring, I suppose better photos are needed.

I was surprised the first time I was at a dig and what I saw! Surprising most things fair well in the ground in East Europe. Steel forget about,,but silver, zink etc. does pretty good. Guess it depends on the soil..

This ring when new had what they call a silver wash on it. A silver matte / flat appearance. Be nice if we knew what the rings true material is..

Your best bet is to find the unit. It might answer questions,,like did that unit fight there or near. Was it big enough to have such a nice ring made[?]

There are a few sites that show units emblems / signs etc. That is probably the best place to start. Unless its as 'Wood' mentions,,a wedding celebration type ring? A good luck type[?] , but I don't think so. The side band design I have seen in period catalogs for mens rings. The design though has been around a long time, pre thru post war... Interesting ring..
                Find the unit!
