It's a doorplate of Volkssozialistische Selbsthilfe ( VS ) and not very rare. -

The most important social-political project of the Palatine Gauleiter Josef Bürckel (1895-1944), initiated in the summer of 1933. The National Socialist self-help pledged each Palatine a monthly fixed sum for government measures on the labor market, in housing construction, for example. Due to the bitter resistance from Munich and Berlin, Bürckel had to stop his project in the summer of 1934.

Thanks for all the information. I do not own this I just have a pic of it and didn't notice the holes for the nails on it. I noticed Ron's is a bronze color. This one seems to be a silver one. Did they make repros of these also? Thanks for posting Ron.
