Mutterkreuz cleaning - how?

Hi all,
I've noticed some verdigris appearing on my two Mutterkreuz. I don't want to go all out with metal cleaner especially with the possibility of damaging the enamel.

Anyone have the same problem and/or a solution?

Do NOT use metal cleaner ... the gold cross will turn into a bronze very easily.

You have to remove the verdigris as it will continue to damage the cross.

In the past I have used an electric toothbrush with detergent and applied a film of Vaseline when dry.

Thanks for those suggestions. They're looking better already with the help of a wooden toothpick to get the grooves clean.
