    Party badge "R. Schanes"

    Hi again, guys!

Here is my second score from "Ratisbon's", a nice and early "R. Schanes, Wien"-badge although it has a damage.

    Kind regards,

    Peter

I'm jealous! Nice score man. Been looking for a Schanes' badge. He's known for making very original badges. Lots of different designs. Love the font on this one and love the reverse design on Schanes' badges.

Yes, the prices for early badges were dramatic in this auction. On the other hand: I missed this kind of "Schanes"-badges and didn't buy much this year.
Thanks for Your kind words, Eric!

          Best, Peter

Sorry if you had to go out of pocket that deep brother but I have been there. That HH badge I got this week cost more than that but for what it's worth, you can't touch one for less. Enjoy your purchase, you're the one who paid for it.

Holy moly don't you guys think it is too much for the badge with the damage enamel? Even if it's early Rudolf Schanes. For that price I would buy Hitlerbewegung or etc. Nice badge - crazy price

Prices are what they are. Many years ago you could buy full maker marked or slogan badges for the same price as a common RZM Party Badge. But that time is over and out. Maybe Party badges where one of the very few things in this hobby where there still was some space left to increase. In other fields of our collecting hobby prices are already crazy for many years. If you for example take the rarity of some early Party Badges compared too what they dare to ask for pretty common available FM membership pins...

Good point. Anytime I see a maker marked party badge for under 200 I snap it up. I have been lucky enough to get some for less, but not often.

You're right about the FM pins, way over priced IMO. It's the cult of the SS, I'll never get it. I recently sold a Kriegsmarine helmet that is (according to most authorities) one of the most rare helmets there is. I had trouble getting $900 for it. But if it'd had a half torn barely visible SS shield on it, I could have gotten north of 2k easy. I've never understood this double standard. I understand there's a certain amount of rarity involved just based on the fact that most SS items were destroyed at war's end to avoid detection, but I think there's something else driving the prices of these items. A fascination with dark things perhaps?
