    Saarland tinnies

Hi...can someone explain to me why these two tinnies are made of different materials, were there two 'grades' of these although I know that sounds ridiculous? Also, are they something to do with the re-occupation of the Saarland area?

    All opinions welcome

    Thanks......Tony

Tony, Good question, I would think it was most likely just a matter of the manufacturers choice of material as there were no rules in that regard it that time.

Imo also just a difference in manufacturer material. You can also find the common Jugendfest tinnies with a bronze or silver finish. (Strangely enough some are finished bronze and then silver washed over the obverse and vise-versa )

Patrick, If it's the 1936 & 1937 Jugendfest pins your referring to the reason for the different finishes was do to the fact that the same design was used for both years so the bronze for 1936 and silver for 1937 was used to easily tell them apart.
