    Hello,
never seen such a badge before. Can anybody tell which organization might have worn these?
    Unfortunately the pin is missing.
    Best regards, Thomas

Thank You! I did not pay attention to the maker mark before. You could be right. But regarding Your translation of the letters LFG - shouldn't there be at least one more letter then to determine which or what kind of Landesfachgruppe in particular?
      Best regards, Thomas

        Hi Thomas:

I deleted my post, since I don't like guessing....

But since you saw it, and asked the question:

I'd be inclined to agree, so my next guess would be Land und Forstwirtschaft (Land and Forestry Science) with the G being either a place name (numerous candidates), or similar. The maker mark is likely that of Emil Hermann, so I'd look for a farm/rural town starting with G in reasonable proximity to Waldstetten (keeping the pre-36 hurdles of transportation/logistics in mind). Prior to the Reichsnahrstand, there were 2 major farming org's, but dozens (maybe hundreds) of smaller localized ones under them.

        Kind regards,

        Andre

The central design of this piece appears to be the symbol of the Lebensborn Program, with heads of grain behind it. The Lebensborn Program used a variety of symbols over the years incorporating other designs with their central symbol, and this one evokes impressions of both the RAD and the agricultural focus of "Blood and Soil." All three are social activities, though the specific use of this particular symbol is unknown to me. Hopefully others here will be more familiar with it.

The symbol stands for "Streben zum Licht" - Reach for the Light.

Many thanks for this, Andreas! Now, does that phrase relate to any NSDAP or Volkish organization, and if so, what is it's context?

              Thanks so much, my friend,

              Br. James

It is the norse Life Rune, which predates the Lebensborn by a very long time...

Good information, GiuseppeC -- many thanks! Now, are you saying that this little badge has no association with the NSDAP or any of it's organizations? And how does this relate to der-hase-fee's quote: "The symbol stands for "Streben zum Licht" - Reach for the Light."?

Thanks for your patience here...I'm just trying to understand the symbolism and it's context! Cheers,

                  Br. James
