    Office of the NSDAP Reichsschatzmeister

I believe the issue of the Golden Party Badges was the responsibility of Reichsschatzmeister Franz Xaver Schwarz. He delegated this function to an office under a Dr Hartman. Does anyone have any information on this Dr Hartman please?
    Thanks,
    Max.

As I understand the process, the responsibility for researching applications and approving awards of the Golden Party Badge was that of "Der Ehrenzeichenskommission" -- The Honor Badge Commission -- which was headed by the Party Treasurer, Franz Xaver Schwarz. I'm sure that Schwarz did not personally oversee the ongoing work of this commission, though I have not heard further details as to the commission's structure.

Two men named 'Hartmann' appear in my notes on the NSDAP Treasurer's Office:

Fritz Maier-Hartmann, Leiter der Pressestelle des Reichssachtzmeister der NSDAP -- Leader/Director of the Press Office of the National Treasurer of the NSDAP -- who was the author of "Die Bauten der NSDAP. in der Hauptstadt der Bewegung" – The Buildings of the NSDAP in the Capital of the Movement -- in 1942, as well as a number of other books on the history of the NSDAP; and

Anton Hartmann, an early member of the NSDAP and the SS who was assigned by Himmler to the Reichschatzmeister's Office in the years prior to WWII, when he joined the W-SS as a reserve officer. Hartmann was also registered as a member of "Ortsgruppe Braunes Haus" as a holder of the GPB.

That's all I can contribute to your search, Max; I wish you luck.

      Hi Max

I have Anton Hartmann's GPB and secured his SS file and party files. He was second secretary to Schwarz but I never found any info linking him to the GPB supply chain. Do you? He ended up in the Waffen SS Reserve during the war.

Neither of these appear to hold a Dr. title.

Anton's GPB from elsewhere on this forum:

Thanks, Andreas. I did notice that neither of the two persons mentioned in my previous note held the title of "Dr." to my knowledge, but I wanted to offer as much information as I had available. I also noticed that both of these "Hartmanns" have two "n"s in their names, though Max gave the name as "Dr Hartman."

          Cheers, my friend,
