I didn't comment in the thread, but have seen 2 versions of these, with the difference being the field: one's smooth, and the others are like the one being offered for sale (die scratches).
Which (if any) are legitimate...who's to say...

Well that was the subtle approach.
Of course, this is waf and on waf fantasy doesn`t mean fantasy, it could mean "maybe", in fact no, it DOES mean maybe. Wait, sorry- that was too ristricted, it M U S T mean maybe.
Instead of just tossing the crap i have, i may just shell out the 35 dollars required to have access to the waf eStand for a year Oh the money to be made.....

I have seen a lot of bogus stuff on Estand...some gets caught, some doesn't...but my big gripe lately, isn't even that.
It's this:
A certain dealer uses this forum (and its members), for free information, free appraisal, authentication, and so on. I gave him "the scoop" on a very unusual badge, and let him know that I wanted it, if he decided to sell.
"Thank you for all this information, blah, blah, blah"...you think the guy comes to me, and says "Hey, I'm going to move that on , let's work out a price"?
Heck no. Jerk couldn't be bothered to give me the time of day, but naturally had no problem using my information in his sales description, almost verbatim.
So, I'm the jackass for doing a kindness for that jackass, and get diddly to show for it, while this lazy clown reaps the rewards...showing a total lack of class, collector etiquette, and basic decency.
Just for the heck of it, I looked up his posts/threads...it's been his M.O. for years. The guy literally contributes nothing to this forum, at all.
So we (WAF members, in general), are being used to provide the knowledge that underlies his business, because he clearly doesn't know anything.
Never Again.
This particular individual gets no help from me, unless he starts paying for it.
Sorry for the off-topic rant...
I don't trust these badges...which is why I don't own one.

Next time he gets a very odd, unusual piece (where very few collectors can even ID it), I'm either going to "pick him clean" on it, or another collector will be getting a fantastic bargain...
Normally, I hold myself to high standards as far as personal integrity goes, but I will make an exception here.
After all, we're talking about a "militaria dealer", which rates about equal with "sleazy politician", and "used-car salesman".

That said, I don't think that, generally, you should expect a reward if you freely offer your advice/opinion.

Probably "slower than in the past" because not many waf users want to bother themselves with outing fakes and fantasy items.
(It always brings grief, trolling and will end any possible future deal or normal discussion with the person you "outed")
On the bright side, there are other forums to list this tinnie on, as well as MILI321, Militaria Company, Best-Antiques.com, Hood.de etc...
