SA Sports Badge for War Wounded - Review

    Hello Guys,
I'm looking for this salty badge.
Is it a good and original badge?
    Regards,
    Schmidt

From it's condition, this piece appears to be a genuine example of the SA Military Defense Badge for War Wounded. These badges were only issued in one grade -- Bronze -- and both the zinc base metal and the bronze finish were of poor quality, being of wartime construction, so the finish of most of these War Wounded badges has dissolved over the decades. I cannot read the maker-mark on the reverse of this piece, but the only maker of these badges that I have seen is the firm of Werner Redo of Saarlautern -- RZM M1/100 -- and from what little I can read on the reverse of this badge, that RZM code is not evident there. A clearer photo would be helpful.

There are two different makers of this badge.

Looks like the RZM code is M1/52, which would be Deschler & Sohn of Munich.

        Best regards,

Thanks Ron and Tom. Tom: regarding your response of "There are two different makers of this badge," is Deschler the 'other maker?'

Sorry! I meant to address my last question to Ron, not to Tom.

IMO the badge posted by Ron in post #9 is an unmarked Deschler. The attachment hardware on that one is very indicative of Deschler.

                    Best regards,
                    Tom
