Hindenburg zepplin badge: real or fantasy?

I have a friend who owns this badge:

    more pix here:

And I apologize in advance for putting here but I don't know where else to put it!

I would like to know if this is a real badge, a copy of a real badge, or a fantasy item.

    Any help appreciated.

    Regards, mitch

    Hello,
I can't tell you whether this badge actually existed or what but I can say that this particular badge is a fake. The back has the coffin shaped pin plate on it and any badge sporting that pin plate is considered bogus. Others with more knowledge of badges per se may be able to tell you if a badge like this actually existed.
