The Bronze Reiterabzeichen is an original TR example.

The Silver Reiterabzeichen looks like a post war example to me. I base that assessment mainly upon the pin which is different from the pins used by L.Chr. Lauer during the TR.

These badges it appears were still produced after the war with the "R" retained for probably 5 years or so before the "R" was done away with.

Thank You, Tim. Yes, I have also a later version, without "R"

          Hi Tim,

Why should they (officially) produce badges after the war with the "R", when the first post war award documents show the badge without the "R"?
There had been several badges with the "R" as remainders from the Third Reich period.

I don't have any documented answer as to why the Reiterabzeichen was produced with the "R" retained for some period post war.

I can only tell you that the examples with the "R", that I consider post war produced, match up exactly with war produced examples except they have post war type pins and often post war type catches.

Are these post war examples just left over war time strikes with post war accouterments soldered on? Or did the manufacturers simply use war time dies to make these post war badges for a time before new dies were made without the "R"?

Here is the backside of my "Lauer" in silver grade for comparison.

                Backsides of additional Reiterabzeichen.
Note the shape of the pins used by Lauer.

Thank you both for showing. Clear, that my silver is suspicious
