            Erich - - I been collecting nearly 50 years now and I seen only 4 "hollow backs" and one is in my collection ! I have one solid back example that had been period converted into a screw back for a more secure fitting.

              Yes Dan they are hard to find and the fakes are easy to pick out just by looking at the reverse side of the badge.

                I didn't realize the hollow ones were so rare! When I started getting into the RPT's, the first one I got was hollow, it took me awhile to get my solid one. I've since "upgraded" my hollow. Funny how it works sometimes. I seem to remember reading speculation the hollow ones came from the event, the solid ones were purchased afterwards. Is that known for sure, or is that just speculation?

                      I agree with Erich - hollow ones are nice. Solid ones have marked (and unmarked) pieces and the Balmberger ones are also lovely.
