          I just purchased these a 1939 1st class and a 1939 2nd class Eagle Orders.

Plus the ribbon bar device with swords.

          Sorry for the bad photography.

Here are some better pictures of the Eagle Orders.

                Opinions?

I have never studied or owned an example of the Eagle Order in my 55+ years of TR collecting -- they were rarely seen and expensive beyond my poor purse -- so I have no background from which to say "yea" or "nay" about these pieces -- but the set you display is certainly beautiful, Gary! Including the ribbons and the presentation case. So, from me anyway, "Congrats!"

                    Hi again, Gary,

Having now spent time looking much closer at these decorations, I am left with a sense of not understanding what I'm looking at! In your note #2 you show us a cased example of the German Eagle Order 1st Class, with Swords, in a case intended for that specific decoration: "mit Schwertern" (note #4). But at the top of note #2 you show us an example of the 1st Class decoration WITHOUT Swords, and throughout the other photos you post in this thread, it looks like the "Swords" device moves from the 1st Class decoration to the 2nd Class decoration as if the device was not permanently attached to the order! Is this normal or is my admitted lack of experience with this rare award that blatant??

Many thanks for your words of instruction in this matter!

Both the case and Erste Stufe are fairly early pieces, but the cross has been altered i.e. the swords are supposed to be attached with a tiny pin on the swords inserted to a hole in the middle of the obverse. The cross "w/o swords" is showing the reverse.

                      cheers

-2Nd Class Eagle Order with swords is 100% original, third design 1933-1945, maker mark "900 21" by the maker Godet&Co.

-1St Eagle Order is 100% Original 2Nd Design 1939-1943 by maker Godet&Co. mark on the ring is "900". The swords

They have been added subsequent to a model without swords possibly by the same manufacturer to take advantage of a lot made without swords or receiver of this first class commissioned the addition of swords post in jewelry specialist after approval of Adolf Hitler to make a model with swords for military personnel or to reward foreign military acts to foreign personnel.

Few are with this system swords but adding contemporary original.

Of all that has presented us with the most difficult to see is the individual ribbon bar of the Order of the German Eagle that caught my attention.

Thank you for your great pictures and share with us in the forum and congratulations for this nice examplesPulgares hacia arriba.

Care to elaborate a bit farther?

Marisca, thank you for your informed opinion.

In a previous thread you explained that the swords could be purchased from Godet, and have the swords attached by a qualified specialist.

                            Here is the link.

At the bottom of the page in post 1, member CEJ posts a 2nd class with the markings of "Silber 900."

The reverse of this badge is very different from my 2nd class, which is marked "21-900." Also there is no protruding raised center dot.

I am enclosing some additional pictures of the reverse of my badges.

Could you explain why the ribbon bar device got your attention? Anythng unusual about this ribbon bar device?

By the way, the badges came frpm Spain, and were sold to a WAF member at the 2014 SOS.

Br. James, sorry for the confusion.

Just my poor choices of posting the pictures. It is confusing!

However,as can be seen in subsequent posts and pictures, both badges are with swords.
