    Adolf Hitler Bakelite piece

Hello All - Has anyone seen one of these before and maybe knows what it was for? If the number on the back is anything to judge by it is nothing special - 027199. The pictures are not the best but it just says Bakelite Berlin on the back and the pin and number are on a strip of metal embedded in the Bakelite.

    Thanks
    Curt

Hello Curt, the Badge you posted is an early example (no text version) of a 1933 NSDAP Brown Fair (Braune Messe) Consumer Fair (Braune Messe boycotted Jewish Merchandise)

Braune Messe were Fairs for the Exhibition of German Merchandise. The Fairs promoted the boycotting of Jewish merchants and their goods. The Propaganda at that time stated this was essential so to stimulate the German Economy.

The Number on your Badge represents the Participants Number. An Auweiss (Civil Identification Document) was produced with a matching Number to the Badge (A unique Number for each Individual Attendant of the fair)
Below I have Posted one of my examples of the Text version of the Badge.

EVERY day is a GOOD day to learn something new on WAF! Many thanks to Curt for asking his question, and to Martin for having all the background details!

        Cheers,

Kurt, I was offered this one some time ago, from our mutual friend. I puzzled over it and came to the conclusion that,
in my opinion, it is the same badge as shown by Martin, but with the writing etc. removed (filed off?) at some time.

          Regards,
          Pete

Thanks very much for the information Martin. That's why it's worth being a member here. I probably could have searched the Interweb for ages and not found a thing.

Pete, the finish is smooth as can be so I think it's highly unlikely that anyone filed anything off.

To be honest had I not had a version of the Badge with a Motto it would have been difficult if not impossible to determine what Event Curt's Badge was for if one just had an example of the Badge which had no text.
              Regards Martin

Pete, a fair assumption to make, however believe it or not earlier examples of the Badge were produced for the Event without text. I have also encountered Flugtag tinnies with and without motto's.
                Regards Martin

To be fair to you Curt with only a Blank version of the Badge to work with it would have been near impossible for anyone to trace what Event the Badge was for...................Even Columbo would have been up the Creek without a Paddle
                  Regards Martin

Just had a quick look at mine, as Martins, but no serial number??

I will try to find pics of the badge I was offered, they are somewhere on this computer!

I have one with the motto too if i remember correctly, will dig up and post this weekend. Like Pete i dont remember it being numbered on the reverse, but havent seen it in a while so might have forgotten about that. To be continued.
