Gentlemen,
Just acquired this DVG Westmark badge and I have some concerns. First is the font of the W. REDO SAARLAUTERN on the reverse. It is shorter and wider than the taller and skinnier font of other examples from my collection. Also, the reverse of the badge is "upside down." On the obverse of the badge the DVG is at the 12 o'clock position. When the badge is turned over the SAARLAUTERN is upside down at the 12 o'clock position. I have never seen this in any enamel badge. This one doesn't feel right to me. I'd appreciate comments from the forum. Thank you.

Hi Ron,
The examples you posted that are W. Redo Sarlautern all have the taller, skinnier font unlike the piece I just acquired. And my other concern is that the reverse of my piece is "upside down" as seen in my photo. Thanks.

If you look at the "O" in Redo in my piece it looks almost square unlike the taller, thinner O seen in other examples.Comment

I think it are good variations. Mine is also a bit different then the examples showed here.

Thanks for your input. Do you have any comments about the reverse of the pin having a 180° rotation like my pin in this photo? I have never seen another enamel pin where this is the case. Thank you.

I think this kind of mistakes could happen. If you want to feel more comfortable with the badge you can always post pictures on www.parteiabzeichen.ch. Jo Rivett is a real expert in these buggers. I bought mine years ago from his website.
