While I don’t personally collect shooting/marksmanship related memorabilia of the period, I note there seems a ton of it out there. The illusion is that the German government, of the period, (generally) outlawed guns which is incorrect and folks still maintain that belief in spite of the number of shooting related awards and prizes that are evident in so many collections.
It would be fascinating to read an in-depth rendition on the number of ‘gun clubs’ and the proclivity of the shooting sports within the Reich because it certainly seems that Germans enjoyed shooting and gun sports as much as the Swiss (or Americans).
Are there any clarified numbers of gun clubs, etc. that existed during the period?
