    HJ Proficiency Badge

My brother just picked this up at an estate sale. I'm not up on the values of these. I understand the "B" series is a private-purchase replacement??? Pin is broken.

What is a fair market "sell it quickly" price. Thanks all!!!

Isn't the B marked replacement badges? Can't say I've seen this grade
B marked just usually the higher grade.

The convention for labelling replacement achievement badges applied to all grades (male and female) but it changed over time. All later badges were marked solely with the "B" but it would be incorrect to say that all replacement Hitler Youth achievement badges (including Jungvolk, BDM and JM) were marked this way because the early BDM Bronze achievement badge replacements, for example, were marked "IB XXXXXX" where I was the grade (bronze) and X was the award serial number. See this post on the HJ Forum for an example:

Unusual chained BDM bronze achievement badge with "IB"

"Private purchase": I'm not sure how you meant the term Tom but if it is that kids had to pay for the badges once they had qualified then yes, that's true. However, they didn't nip down to the local badge shop to get their badges. They had to be applied for through the RJF where the central register was kept. Once authorised, the badges were dispatched to the boys' units. Replacement badges were obtained in the same manner.
