    German Enameled NAVY Pin

Can anyone tell me if this is a WWII-era pin or something later? There's no swastika on it.

    Opinions welcome. Thanks.

Here's the reverse. The lettering on the front is in red emamel and the ship & water is in blue.

Hello, I may be mistaken but I believe that cruiser sailed in WW II. My humble opinion only. A Kriegsmarine expert should know. Cheers...Robert

        Herc,

Yep, a WWII German light cruiser... from 1929 to 1940. This link has some good photos and info for you. Sorry I can't help out with the nice pin. Take care.

Wow -- great link on the ship. Thanks. Perhaps the pin could be a souvenier given out to visitors at pre-war ports of call...? Worn by crew members while on shore leave...? I suppose anything's possible.

These were pre-war souvenier pins given out to the public when the ships made official visits to foreign ports. I've seen them for several Kriegsmarine ships.
