    Fake badges?

Hello everyone, I am new to your forum and it is interesting reading about the items that are not only rare and collectible, but also about the amount of items that are copies - what a minefield!
I have 2 badges. I do not really collect militaria, so I have no clue if they are copies or not. Any information would be welcomed.
I have looked online, the SS badge seems so different from what I see there, that I have doubts that it is real. The rear is not a pin type clasp, and the ones I have seen online look like bronze. This appears to be aluminium and is very light in weight.
The little red one, I do not know. Thanks in advance for any assistance given

    Sorry - both terrible copies.

Is that like a standard answer on your forums? A little bit of logic/reasoning would help, if anyone has that ability here..

You basically asked for a "short" answer.... both are so poor copies that they hardly deserve long term discussion.... 10 minutes searching here would have given you the answer for yourself.

Don't get testy, it's not our fault! There's little need for long discussion about these reproductions, they've all been covered before here.... you can't make a silk purse out of a cows ear!, and no one can easily explain the finite details of German tinneys and enamel pins in a few sentences... it takes experience, research, reference materials, and viewing original examples for comparison. All are available here- we'll gladly help.

As a general rule, consider nearly "all" SS stuff as a fake.... I've never seen an SS tinney in 58 years of collecting, that I thought was real!

Standard answer for terrible, terrible copies. Some people want a quick yes/no because they are thinking of buying immediately. Some badges are controversial and need a long explanation.

SS tinnie is so clearly a soft casting with a mushy back and soft details and weird prongs. Looks like it was made in someone's basement.

The enamel badge is one that has been discussed ad nauseum if a search is done. Poor enamel, fat swastika, artificial aging on the back and the deadly "coffin-pin" pin plate only seen on recent fakes.

          Hope that helps.

Thank you for your reply sjl. I did say in my initial post I had looked online and thought the SS one in particular looked wrong. I did not come on here stating anything, merely asking the "experts"
I don't believe I actually mentioned the words "short answer" in my post, as stated by mr !!!
            But that is cool.
With people like Mainemilitaria here, I am sure everyone can be both better informed and feel rejected, all at the same time. Well done.
            Thanks again.
